Prism Peterborough Massage Therapy

This treatment is ideal for 2 areas of concern in the upper body OR lower body.   A variety of Swedish massage techniques are delivered at a pressure and pace that is compatible with your unique nervous system.  If a full body treatment is requested it will target general tension in superficial muscles only.

60 minute -- Massage Therapy

A 75 minute massage therapy treatment allows for extra time to be given to areas that require a little more time to release their tension, and is ideal for up to 2 areas of concern in the upper body OR lower body.

This treatment is ideal for up to 3 areas of concern in the upper body OR lower body, targeting intermediate and deeper set structures. 
If a full body treatment is requested it will target general tension within superficial muscles and some intermediate muscles; it will not include work on deeper set structures.

Hot stone massage is a therapeutic technique using heated, smooth basalt stones used for massage strokes to deeply relax muscles, improve blood flow to local tissue, and relieve tension and discomfort.  This treatment is combined with therapeutic massage therapy techniques to help with chronic pain and stress reduction.

Indie Head Massage is the art of manipulating the soft tissue of the scalp, face and upper neck. Warmed fractionated coconut oil is infused with essential oils and is applied around the hairline and massaged into the scalp. 

For treatment on the face, a non-comedogenic squalane face oil is applied, and cold roller balls are applied afterwards to soothe sinus regions and alleviate tension around the jaw and temples.

Techniques employed in this treatment are within the Scope of Practice for Massage Therapy, therefore can be claimed for insurance benefits.

If pain relief is the goal, a 75 minute treatment can better address conditions such as TMJ (jaw) pain, cervicogenic and tension headaches, as well as pain in the face from clenching or grinding.

If relaxation is the goal, this 60 minute treatment will incorporate a variety of massage techniques to help release stress and tension and create a sense of peace and well-being.

For treatment on the face, a non-comedogenic squalane face oil is massaged into the skin, and cold roller balls are applied afterwards to soothe sinus regions and alleviate tension around the jaw and temples.

Techniques employed in this treatment are within the Scope of Practice for Massage Therapy, therefore can be claimed for insurance benefits.

90 Minute Massage Therapy

This gentle and subtle approach consists of joint play, joint mobilizations, oscillations, and a variety of advanced neuromuscular techniques. These techniques are effective at targeting issues that originate in the cervical spine/neck region, such as cervicogenic headaches, or when tight muscles pull vertebrae into a state of misalignment, leading to pain and/or postural dysfunctions.
These tight, anterolateral (front and side) muscles could lead to compression on the brachial plexus (the bundle of nerves above the collarbone which controls movement and sensation of the upper body including the shoulders, arms and hands). When the brachial plexus is compressed by tight muscles it can produce pain, weakness, numbness, tingling or altered sensation and in less common occurrences, paralysis of the arm or hand.

This treatment may be altered in the presence of degenerative disc disease and not indicated for spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, severe scoliosis or suspected aneurysm in the area being treated.

Cervical/Upper Thoracic Spine -- 60 minutes

This treatment is ideal for up to 2 areas of concern in the upper body OR lower body, static vacuum cups (or dynamic silicone cups, if preferred) will be placed around the areas of concern to target deeper set musculature.

For cupping treatment requested on the face, mini silicone cups are used dynamically with a non-comedogenic squalane face oil applied to the skin, with cold roller balls applied afterwards to soothe sinus regions and alleviate tension around the jaw and temples.
